We hit 26 weeks and 5 days today, which is officially third trimester!!! Who-hoo!!! Except for the last week and a half, I have to admit that this pregnancy has really flown by. Not sure if it’s because I have Hannah keeping me busy or because there is sooooo much to do to prepare for twins that time just seems short! But anyway, hitting another milestone is great!
Oh…and speaking of milestones! Today is our wedding anniversary! We have been married for 7 years…hard to believe! Since we can’t go out to celebrate like we had intended, my mom got us a gift card from the grocery store to pick up steaks and baking potatoes. And she offered to take Hannah for dinner so that Nate could eat on the couch with me (otherwise, I would have to eat on the couch by myself, while he ate in the kitchen with Hannah). So…that is how we will be celebrating our anniversary! Not as intended, but just as special!

So…lots to report on our front. Where to begin?
Well, first of all, we are now the proud owners of a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. We bought it used and got a fairly good deal on it. Although, I’m still not excited about adding a car payment, it is a very useful and fun to drive vehicle! And Nate loves the stow and go seating because he’s able to haul things like he has a truck, without owning a truck.
Secondly, we have moved on to week 26 in the twin’s pregnancy! Hard to believe that next Tuesday I will enter third trimester! The babies are getting rather large (take a peek at my belly shot down below!) and are very heavy! It’s pretty funny to watch me try to get up off the floor. The baby’s move all the time now and are definitely battling for space.
Finally, our biggest change deals with my activity level. Evidently, the Braxton Hicks I talked about in my last post weren’t from overdoing it one day, but were my body’s way of telling me that it’s having a hard time with the pregnancy. After resting all weekend, I went to a meeting Monday morning and came home to just as many BH as I had on Friday. We saw the doctor on Tuesday and were told that I needed to be off my feet for the foreseeable future to try to carry these babies to term (or as close as possible).
So…I’ve been relegated to the couch, bed, and bathroom. Right now, I have plenty of movies, books, and scrapbooking to keep me busy, so it hasn’t been too bad for me. Hannah on the other hand…is having a really hard time with the change. She’s been crying more and not sleeping as well. Things will change even more in another week when Nate goes back to work. He’s been so wonderful taking over all the things that I normally do without complaining. We’re working out a “Hannah schedule” this weekend since I won’t be able to take care of her myself. Thank goodness for friends and family to help out!

So…I totally overdid it last Thursday. Swimming in the morning, play date in the afternoon, and registering for some new baby things in the evening. Spent the evening in bed drowning myself with water and keeping my feet up to ward off the Braxton Hicks contractions I was having. Nate and I made a phone call to the doctor on Friday since I was still having some Braxton Hicks contractions and I got strict orders to keep my feet up and stay out of the heat this weekend.
Why is it that when you are super busy, all you want is to have a day of rest on the couch? BUT…when you “have” to rest and stay on the couch, it isn’t as much fun. I’ve watched every movie possible, finished two magazines, read a book, finished a Sudoku and a crossword puzzle book, and got everything off the DVR. I suppose that is being productive in some way, but as I’ve watched my mom and Nate bustle around the house doing “really” productive things, it’s made me feel extremely lazy.
It’s hard to know what is okay and what’s not…it seems that my appropriate level of activity is a moving target from day to day. We decided that I should limit myself to one activity a day for now and see how that goes. Sigh…the joys of being 25 weeks pregnant. : )

I had my 24 week prenatal appointment this morning. We got to the doctor’s office right at my 10 o’clock appointment time. We walked out of the office almost three hours later at 12:45. But what can you do…sigh.
Anyway, we started with an ultrasound. They were able to check all the things the babies didn’t let them check 4 weeks ago and it all looked great! Both babies are head down! (Who-hoo!!!…Just stay that way!) They are facing each other and persisted to punch and kick each other the whole ultrasound. It was pretty entertaining to watch!
Took the glucose test. The babies LOVED the sugar and were going crazy. I got a little woozy, but overall it wasn’t too bad. Just hoping for good results. When I finally saw the doctor, she said that I was doing great! My belly measured 28 weeks (I’ve been consistently 4 weeks ahead). I’ve gained 18 lbs but that is to be expected. She said whatever I’m doing movement/exercise/rest wise to keep doing it and she didn’t need to see me for 4 more weeks, then we start every 2 week visits! So overall…a good report for today!

Wow…I seem to get a little behind when I don’t take the time to upload photos off my camera! Never fear…I’ve spent the majority of this evening catching up on uploading, labeling, and scrapbooking!
Here is a collage of some of our firework pictures from this 4th of July (although…it was actually only July 3rd in the photo since Chatham did their fireworks a day early!) Hannah and Andrew had a BLAST! They “ooh’d and aah’d” with the best of them! And it helped that they had an hour to run around and play before the fireworks started! Happy Birthday America!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates…I feel like we are meeting ourselves coming and going lately! We’ve been quite the travelers lately…St. Louis, Burlington, Peoria, Kansas City, Chicago…sheesh! When the doctor said to get our traveling done early in the summer, we took her seriously! And, except for little jogs into town and a planned outing to Peoria at the end of July, I think we are staying put! But that doesn’t mean you can’t come to us!!! We still have a guest room for a few more months! : )
The pregnancy is going really well so far! The summer heat is getting to me, but fortunately we have friends with a pool! I have discovered that my belly gets in the way when trying to do dishes…so I have to do them standing sideways now. It’s quite the sight! The babies are moving more and sometimes it feels like there is a battle in my belly! Baby B repositioned herself and Baby A is NOT happy about it. I think he’s having trouble getting comfortable…I would think he would just be happy that he’s not getting kicked in the head anymore!
This week marked the first week that we will begin taking belly pictures every two weeks. There’s definitely been growth since two weeks ago! Mom and I went to some garage sales tonight and people kept saying, “Oh! You look like you are going to pop…when is that baby due?!?” Ummm…big…but not THAT big! With the baby’s new positions, my belly has definitely “rounded out” since my last photo. I think it looks cute!
